Queer Teen Alameda Center Youth Coordinator

Alameda Pride Foundation (Alameda Pride) operates the Queer Teen Center of Alameda (QTAC), an  Alameda-based LGBTQ+ space for middle and high school youth. QTAC operates each Friday from 6:00 to 9:00 pm during the school year. 

Alameda Pride is currently searching for a part-time staff to lead and coordinate programs, activities, and services for Alameda LGBTQ+ youth, ensuring a safe and supportive environment, and advocating for their needs and well-being. This role will lead programming approximately two Fridays per month, from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. during the school year.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Development and Implementation:

    • Develop, implement, and evaluate programs and activities that meet the needs and interests of youth.

    • Ensure programs are inclusive, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed.

    • Coordinate and facilitate group activities, workshops, and events.

    • Conduct outreach to attract and engage LGBTQ+ youth.

  • Leadership and Management:

    • Build partnerships with other organizations and community stakeholders.

    • Manage budgets and resources effectively.

    • Participate in center coordination meetings.

    • Represent the center at community events and meetings.

    • Maintain accurate records of youth involvement and program activities.

  • Safety and Well-being:

    • Ensure a safe and supportive environment for all youth.

    • Address any safety concerns or incidents promptly and effectively.

    • Promote positive youth development and well-being.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of LGBTQ+ issues, youth development, and the need to protect confidential information for teens participating in QTAC. 

  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

  • Commitment to social justice and equity.

  • Experience in program development and implementation.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

  • Knowledge of relevant resources and services for LGBTQ+ youth.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
